For years, most victims of revenge porn — people who have had their nude photos shared online without permission — basically couldn’t do anything about it.
According to one study, over 50% of all adults engage in sexting, and 70% admit to having received a nude photo online or over the phone.
And yet, despite the fact that we all (or at least more than half of us) do it, there’s still this weird, persistent, harmful notion that if your naked pictures get leaked or shared maliciously by an ex online, it’s your fault for taking them in the first place.
It’s completely backward, but sadly, the law seems to at least kind of agree.
As of September 2014, New Republic found, putting someone else’s illicit photos online without their consent was illegal injust 16 states, though laws have been proposed in more states. Not only is it typically impossible to prosecute the perpetrator, they note, it’s impossible to legally compel websites to take the images taken down most of the time.
So, it’s going to be a while until the translator comes out, and until then, I thought that I would take the time to take manual translation requests from you guys for your convenience! I’m totally down with Neo-Khuzdul and some Sindarin (Quenya is completely out of the question, oh my god), and you can just drop a word / phrase in my ask box for now. I promise I’ll do my best with translations and try to send them back to you as soon as I can! 🙂
You guys can send them to the translator blog or my main blog, doesn’t matter to me!
Well, the inspiration for Gimlin-zaram was in fact Jenolan Caves, near Sydney. They have a strange, twisted organic feel – the stone looks like it could breathe. The water is so clear it is uncanny.
So when I imagine the chamber, I think of the walls and ceilings as being clustered in these strange pale alien stone shapes – the architecture of nature – and of the pool initially being as black and opaque and shiny as a puddle (ha!) of ink. Then twinkles of light begin in the depths, and as they increase in brightness, the water around it begins to glow with a starry, blue-green radiance.
Those submersed twinkles would grow brighter and brighter, illuminating the cavern’s thickly-encrusted walls and sending all those weird and organic shapes writhing. The water in which the stars blaze would grow lighter and lighter – until it all finally grew too bright and all the watcher can see is white.
– eyeballs are an eyeball width apart – ears align with the top of your brows to the bottom of your nose, and are the center-point of a profile view – lip corners line up to the center of each eye – hands are roughly the size of your face – feet are the same size as your forearm – elbows are aligned with your belly-button – your hands reach down mid-length of your thighs – both upper and lower legs (individually) are roughly the same size as your torso (this is all rough estimates for proportion! feel free to add more to help others)
YOU ARE A FUCKING SAINT
– the length of your legs + feet is about the same as the length of your torso + everything above it
Every artist who sees this post should do the following:
– Watch the video.
– Follow the instructions
– Reblog
I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold a pencil.
Okay, this guy is my HERO. I just did these exercises as I watched the video, and already my arms and hands feel better. I have a degenerative tendon disease that prevents my muscles, tendons and ligaments from retaining their elasticity, and so anything that maintains the health of my bendy parts is important.
I URGE YOU. Even if you don’t draw, do these several times a day. Even just sitting at a computer can do serious damage. My dad, who was a rugby player, a carpenter, and now a handyman, suffered from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, simply as a result of sitting at the computer at the end of the day to play a little solitaire. Don’t let it happen to you!
((Guys, I will reblog this like, 5 times a day just so you all will see this. This is REALLY helpful, and it’s quick and easy.))
Wow, these are REALLY helpful. And yes, this is not just good but IMPORTANT for more than artists — if you type a lot, play a lot of video games, do anything that requires lots of repetitive movements of your hands, wrists, and arms (gardening, sewing, factory work), these can help. Even if you don’t yet get pain these are a great preventative measure, because the damage builds up over time. Youth is no protection.
And like he says, you should feel a stretch, but don’t push it too far!
