That’s the day I knew I’d always love you.

What is this from?

i went to the original post and its called sense8, its a show that apparently just came out today on netflix by the wachowskis (one of whom is a trans woman). one of the 8 main characters is a trans woman (and is actually PLAYED by a trans woman, refreshingly)

ive been hearing everyone talking about sense8 but holy shit!

#sense8#whatever else it is#it has freema agyeman as a lesbian#and that’s enough to get me started (tags via pearwaldorf)

truer words have never been spoken

One of my favorite things about Sansukh is the sheer variety of badass characters, especially lady and nb characters. A lot of them fight (understandable given the nature of ME) but a lot of them are non violent and it’s lovely.

Ahhh, thank you Nonnie! I am so happy you like them ❤

And I did really want to show that a character can be badass without being a warrior, so you’ve made me super happy – thank you so much!

It’s highly likely that this has already been asked, but since Jeri’s beard is green due the whole non-binary dwarves are allowed to be hella rad; how does totally canon BLUE bearded Dwalin… adefhsdgis sudfij???. Non-binary Dwalin is a thing right?!

Hey Nonnie – I’m not writing him as such, but that IS where the inspiration was ganked from! And why not – it’s perfectly possible that a blue-dyed beard signifies agender, and Dwalin goes by he/him/his because he likes ‘em.

“Hello, little one,” Jeri muttered for the seventh time, cradling the tiny dwarf infant in their arms.

As they gazed down at the bundle that was their newborn child, Jeri thought they were almost close to collapsing with emotion and exhaustion. However, they did have the capacity to wonder over a few things. One was that their child – their child (and thinking about this almost set Jeri off blubbing again; they thought they were over the worst of it now) – was so impossibly small. They surely couldn’t have been that small when they were born.

Another was how utterly beautiful they were. Of course, Jeri had scoffed whenever anyone brought up the mix that they would have Khalei’s good looks – but even so, their child was perfect in every way conceivable – a miniature version of Khalei’s bow mouth, coupled with Jeri’s nose and a hint of warm, golden sunshine in their cheeks. Jeri couldn’t help but sit on the edge of the bed and bury their nose in their tiny hat, tears running into their beard again.

He felt their sanmelek take their hand in theirs, and Jeri looked up to find the same dazed expression on their face, before they gently leaned in for a kiss.

“You are incredible, ghivasha,” they murmured.

I really have no time for shitty excuses for lack of labeling people bisexual/pansexual/polysexual in fantasy fiction.

“Oh but it’s a period piece, in the culture they don’t have words for sexuality yet!”

I can go on about how “historically accurate” it is to have dragons in these “period pieces”, but ultimately my bottom line is that this is fantasy fiction, not a historical account, the possibilities are endless in this genre of fiction and yet we never get a universe where people are able label their sexuality, it’s not wrong to ask why.

yeah man if they can come up with entire languages and multiple names for every person and place in their fantasy world then they can come up with a word for bisexual or gay that isn’t euphemistic and doesn’t sound anachronistic

tbh authors also have the option of just including orientation labels with no explanation even if it is “anachronistic”, hell if we have entire fantasy worlds where everyone speaks english in the same american accent with no explanation and inexplicable pop culture references we can have lgbtq+ labels

Plus, very often there were, in fact, words – or, at the very, least widely understood polite euphemisms – for many of these things. You can totally find out what those words were, with a bit of research. Writers just assume that nobody’d ever heard of being gay, bisexual, polyamorous, etc. in whatever era they’re writing about, then proceed to make that assumption true through a willful refusal to do their homework. It’s like all those American period pieces that depict a New York City with no black people in it, then try to justify it with “well, it’s set in the 1950s” – the historical accuracy they’re appealing to is, in reality, ahistorical.

This is… almost certainly not the most obscure thing I’ve ever done, but it’s still pretty nerdy.

But yeah. My Second Age babes. Trans dwarf lady Narvi, nonbinary Celebrimbor, Annatar, and Galadriel. I used Andrea Marcaccini, David Chiang, Andrej Pejic and Jessica Plummer for face reference.

@determamfidd, christmashippo, fae-of-the-rose, I know I’m just a weird random stranger but you guys are the only people I know who are interested in Narvi and Celebrimbor so yeah. *sheepishly contributes to microscopic fandom*

Galadriel’s way too saturated but hey, it’s Galadriel, it works.

OH

MY GOD

AMAAAAZING

*keels over. There are choking noises*

I love these so SO SOOOO MUCH. Thank you for tagging me – I am absolutely dumbfounded by the skill and beauty of them! (TRANS POC NARVI AND NB ASIAN CELEBRIMBOR AHHHH YES I DIE NOW)Â
