So, for reasons of logistics, I ended up wearing Leia to a photo shoot with the Saber Guild last weekend. The resulting shots were AMAZING. I am so impressed with our photographer. Also, our Kylo was a great sport.
I am too tired after another excellent day at ECCC to write much, so instead, have a photo spam of images I took while doing my Depa Billaba costume for the first time. I have decided that I will definitely be submitting both this costume and the Leia gown I will be wearing for consideration to the Rebel Legion, so I can get involved with that group. The do such awesome work, and their people were so nice when I talked to them today.

Had a great first day at con today! I got to meet (and get a signature from) @ngoziu, which was pretty much the height of excitement for me.
It was also so much fun wandering around as Baris again. I even re-met a few folks from Dragoncon, who recognized the costume, which was pretty cool. Tomorrow, I debut my rendition of Depa Billaba, so (hopefully) look forward to some fresh cosplay photos tomorrow. BTW, if any of you lovely folks of tumblr are wandering around ECCC and want to say hi, let me know. I shall be there every day of con.
Finally, a brief cosplay progress update: Leia’s jewelry is done, and not a moment too soon (I finished it after I got home tonight). I never did manage to get the cheap plastic from the 3D printing on the necklace totally smooth, but I think it looks pretty good in spite of the flaws, and bracelet is nearly perfect.

*whispers* Audacity has a pitch adjustment function for fixing that one intonation mistake in a recording that is driving you crazy
BUT I’VE ALREADY RENDERED AND MIXED ALL THE PARTS TOGETHER. i’d end up re-pitching all the rest of the harmonies as well, and they’re all correct and in-tune already. In short, I am an eedjit.
It’s an acappella section too, no place to hide. Gonna have to re-record that entire section, all 16 bars, despite the fact that the fuckup is a blip right at the end. Gah.
