A large part of me wants to ask EVERY SINGLE ONE PLEASE but I’ll sticks with DETS. (Though if you wanna do them all, do it. Please)

ILU POP THANK YOU ❤

Um, I’ve answered D, T and S, so here’s E! (I CAN’T FACE ANSWERING THEM ALL IN ONE GO – snippets is good!)

E: If you wrote a sequel to [insert fic], what would it be about?

If I wrote a sequel to Sansukh, it would be about the modern fanfiction Sisyphus, forever working upon a story that never seemed to end.

lmao, joking aside tho, I will be pottering in the Sansukh Appendices for some time, I think, but it will not have a sequel. The story is nearly finished, and when it is done, it’s done.

If I was to write a sequel to ‘Irreconcilable Differences’, though. Hmm. That has some appeal!

Possibly I’d write something about the Infinity Gauntlet stuff, when it comes out? I always enjoyed that TBP (it’s on my shelf right now, about three metres away). I liked the conversation between Hulk and Wolverine. ‘In our way, we’re both monsters, pal.’ Classic stuff.

I would also like to add more about Steve and the Buckster.

Possibly Stucky too.

My characterisation in IR of Steve is very influenced by the first Avengers film, and there’s been a whole crapton of meta and two more Cap films since then. I feel like I know him better these days!

I’d also add more friendship between Steve and Bruce, bc heck these boys have a lot in common.

Still Science Boyfriends, absolutely – I liked Bru/tasha and read fics about them before AoU came out. Then it came out, and URGH no – I completely disliked the ship afterwards. Which I thinks says that fic writers are better at writing both characters than Joss Whedon, frankly.

And developing the nascent relationship I left Natasha and Clint in at the end of IR could be fun.

i got tagged by @thriceandonce! thank you, friend!

Rules: Tag 9 people you want to get to know better.

Relationship status: Married to a person of the bloke variety

Lipstick or chapstick: um, shea butter, probably? Lipstick for performances and conducting.

Last song/music I listened to: I’ve been listening to a lot of Pentatonix lately..

Top three shows: erm. I don’t watch a lot of telly… but I guess, Old!Doctor Who (we’ve been watching the new animated 2nd Doctor adventure, Power of the Daleks DVD on laundry evenings), anything nature-documentary oriented, but especially David Attenborough (I’m rewatching Frozen Planet rn), and I Claudius because John Hurt totally killed it as Caligula. Vale, Sir John.

Top three characters: Gimli son of Gloin, Dain Ironfoot, Finn (Star Wars)

Top three ships: Gigolas is the titan, the flagship, the gargantuan ocean liner of my ships. No other comes close, heh. It is so huge it occupies #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5.

(honourable mentions: Science Boyfriends, Merthur, Jedistormpilot, Holtzbert, Bagginshield, nngh can’t think of more)

I tag you! (if you wanna!)

Ship Sizes

omniship-armada:

Supercarrier: fandom flagship.  Everybody and their dog ships it.  The fandom is glutted with artwork and fic.  You cannot escape this ship.

Dreadnought: massively popular.  Nearly everybody ships it.  You can, with dedication, in theory, reach the end of the AO3 archive for the ship’s tag, but it’ll take a long time.

Cruiser: pretty popular ship.  Not everyone ships it, but everyone knows about it.  Has a good amount of fic/art, and probably multiple ask blogs.

Frigate: just plain popular.  Feels like it could use more fanworks.  New people to the fandom might not know about it, but they’ll stumble across it sooner rather than later.

Gunboat: bit of a rarepair.  It might have an ask blog or two.  A couple big name fans ship it.  Probably only takes a few weeks to get through the entire AO3 backlog, and one new fic gets added during that time.

Tugboat: rarepair.  Almost never seen except as a side pairing to a more popular ship.  You can usually get through everything on AO3 in a matter of days.  You’ve forgotten what it is to be picky about what you read.

Rowboat: less than a dozen people ship it.  You all know each other.  You exist in an endless cycle of the same five people desperately producing art and fic and one person who constantly contributes headcanons.

Canoe: you are one of maybe three people who ship it, and there’s a not-insignificant chance you’ve never encountered those other two hypothetical shippers.  You spend your days paddling furiously in hopes of keeping the ship afloat, dreaming of the day you upgrade to a rowboat so you can finally rest.

*cries*

Come on, you have the ability to sway a lot of people, so all rarepair you propose quickly upgrade from canoe to Rowboat xD But… yeah, they’re gonna stay rowboats xDD

but, hey, look at the bright side! you created so many rowboats ships that you have a whole fleet of them!

mlm + height difference

  • the “someone pokes their head around the corner
and the taller one does it above them” cliché
  • back hugs where the tall bf is able to rest his
chin on the small bfs head
  • the “you cant reach the top shelf so i’ll do it
for you except i’ll lean against you while i do it and fluster you” cliché
  • chin kisses bc small bf cant reach, forehead kisses bc tall bf wont lean
  • “hows the weather down there?” “amazing with the
    shade you provide”
  • spooning is 100% more efficient bc tall bf can
just wrap himself around small bf and keep him warm
  • height differences are endearing in general tbh

enemies to friends to lovers is literally my favorite trope. i will never tire of seeing two characters go from hating each other, to tentatively feeling out a friendship, to slowly developing feelings for each other and then falling in love. it’s painfully cliché and  i want to see it e v e r y w h e r e

Hi there! First of all, this question is not meant to belittle or dissuade you from Gigolas in any way. You have dragged me into this ship and I will never escape. I was wondering, however: from an objective viewpoint, how do you feel about Legolas/Tauriel? (I don’t ship it myself, but I was curious to see what you thought.) Feel free not to answer if you don’t want to. :-) Thanks for being awesome!

Hey Nonnie!

Objectively, I think they’re both very pretty.

Subjectively, I don’t feel anything for it at all. *sheepish look*

Gimli is my fave boy, I am far less interested when he’s not involved, tbh! A lot of my LOTR shipping has its origins in the books rather than the movies – I don’t say that to be elitist, promise. It’s just that I am OLD, and I read the books and began shipping stuff long before the movies ever even existed

(the movies totally sold me on Kiliel, though… so! *cheerful shrug*)

All power to those that ship it, though. Hope they get all the pretty fanart and fic!

Thanks for being awesome too, Nonnie! *hugs*

SHIP WARS: A Simple Guide for Fandom

shinykari:

Q: Should I harass or bully someone over who/what they ship?

A: No.

Q: But they ship the wrong ship!

A: Still no.

Q: Their ship will never be canon! It’s so obvious to anyone
reading/watching/playing.

A: I don’t care. The answer is still no.

Q: My ship is canon, and they ship one of the couple with
someone else! It’s like cheating! How about now?

A: Nope, not now either.

Q: The ship they ship is unhealthy/abusive/incestuous/icky.
I should definitely harass them about that.

A: It’s like you’re not even listening to me. No, no you
should not.

Q: But if they ship this about fictional characters, they must
support it in real life!

A: No, enjoying reading or writing about something is not
the same as supporting it in real life. Agatha Christie is not a mass murderer,
despite having fictionally killed over 100 people.

Q: Well, I guess it’s okay if the person shipping it is
doing so to deal with abuse or trauma of their own. But only then! Everyone else is fair game.

A: And how, pray tell, do you plan to enforce this arbitrary
rule?  You’re planning to compel people
to show their victim bone fides to
you, a complete stranger? So that you can pass judgement on whether their
trauma was “real enough” or if they are “victim enough” to warrant shipping
something you disapprove of? Not only is that absurd, it’s extremely offensive and damaging to the very people you’re purporting to help.
You don’t get to be the arbiter of someone else’s life experiences, period.
Some people use fandom as a coping mechanism, yes, and that is 100% their
business. Some people ship unhealthy/abusive ships for completely benign
reasons, up to and including “because they look pretty together” and that is perfectly valid. You don’t get a
free pass to harass someone in the name of great justice here.

Q: Fuck you, I’m going to harass someone anyway. I might
even make a blog about it!

A: Well, you’re an asshole then. I hope you step on a lego.
