OK, so if the Company are going through their family quarters are reclaimed, Balin and Dwalin go to their house and Dwalin finds an old baby toy – a little battle ram – that was obvi Balin’s. He shows it to Balin, who makes a grab for it. Balin ends up chasing Dwalin halfway through the Mountain, screeching at Dwalin to return “Mr Headbutt.” It’s hilarious. Smaller versions of Mr Headbutt end up in Bofur’s toy shop, and are a fan favorite, especially the ones with a Balin rider.

MR HEADBUTT

I LOVE IT

SO SO MUCH

AHHHHHHH

Fundin seems to be a vomit-magnet. Part of it is that he’s really good with sick kids – he’s very patient and will sit with them for hours, telling stories and playing games. Also he just has horrendously bad luck – he’s often in the wrong place at the wrong time when someone has food poisoning or otherwise throws up.

awwwwwwwwww, I am having a surge of fellow-feeling for Fundin rn. The Dwarfling has a cold, and she is the gloopiest, runniest, most miserable little possum ever. Lots of hugging her as she drips on me. Poor little sweet-pea.

I bet Fundin is the one with the hankie and the soft words and the hug, too. Carries them around until the sad hiccup-breathing calms down. Ignoring the mess on him, bc the child is far more important right now.

Poor thing! Always at the wrong place at the wrong time, aww!

Groin would laugh until he choked hahaha

Well, Bomfris can probably rest easier about her hair because a lot of people experience more hair growth during pregnancy because hormone changes.

I remember! My hair has never looked so good, gdi. A small point of comfort when the rest of me was a general disaster area of aches and nausea 🙂

It was really disconcerting about 8 weeks after the baby arrived, because it all started falling out in massive big tangles, lol. Brushing my hair was an adventure for a while there!

I will be using some of the lesser-known aspects of pregnancy to tell Bomfris’ experience! The hair is definitely one of them!

OK but Dwalin wasn’t born yet when Erebor fell in book-canon and Balin was 7. So they’re back and are going to their family’s apartments and Dwalin is slack-jawed when they go in and Balin is just crying, because Balin is going through all these really hazy baby-memories and Dwalin is seeing all it all for the first time. And Dwalin is all like “was this Amad’s?” and “wow, Adad had really bad taste in color schemes.” And Balin finds his favorite stuffed toy which hadn’t made it out with him.

(yeah, I know – I was thinking it would be even more bittersweet, because Dwalin would be discovering that his parents had a life – a nice life, even – before they became the grim, weary dwarves he remembers)

AUGH AUGH AUGH NONNIE D:

Tbh I didn’t find the pig inexplicable in the latest episode of Sansukh- I just assumed it was Dain’s battlepig that had fallen on the field with him. United forever in the Halls of Mahal!

Wait for it. The inexplicable nature of pigs will, over time, become apparent.

(but yes, that was indeed Beastie the Battlepig – credit for the name ‘Beastie’ is dain-mothafocka‘s, I believe? I can’t not think ‘Beastie’ nowadays for the piggie lol)

Just sending hugs because I think you are a super awesome person! Sorry that your work’s popularity has led you to be a target for jealousy and unwarranted criticism. But look! At all! The creativity! Your writing has inspired! I always leave your blog with a feeling of positivity because of the love and care you show your characters, your writing, and your fellow creators!

Ahhh, thank you Nonnie. *hugs and hugs and hugs* You’re super kind, thank you so much. I am very, VERY lucky, I know, and I don’t ever lose sight of it. 🙂

(tbh, if it was actual targeted criticism – meaning, something intended to help me improve my writing – that’s all cool, I am all for that, I’d like to talk about that in more depth in fact. But mostly it’s just rude entitled anons who think of me as some faceless corporation and/or typing robot: wanting me to write their way, their story not mine, or about their idea/ship/characterisation. This newest sort seems to be trying to dictate how I am ‘allowed’ to be a fan. Meh. I am too old and busy for wank.)

Most people I have met are truly wonderful. Truly. And the positivity and enthusiasm in this fandom is simply breathtaking: it’s hard not to be encouraged and enthused by it! So many people trading ideas and creativity and love, music and art and headcanons and more! It’s a great place to be, and the occasional sourpuss isn’t ever going to spoil that.

Thank you again, Nonnie. *hugs you back* This was such a beautiful message, and you have a beautiful heart ❤
