IDK WHAT IT IS ABOUT LULLABIES IDK IDK
I thought at first that perhaps Baris could bust out something high and soaring and ethereal… and then I thought: No. This isn’t about her being a stellar diva. This is not about her voice.
This is about her dad.
And so I wondered next: Right, so Baris stands up, and everyone would expect a massive glorious jaw-dropping virtuosic performance? Because she is famous after all. She’s the greatest talent born in a century.
But instead, she begins a simple little lullaby, the sort that everyone knows. The kind of song that a dad would sing to his kids when they were small and couldn’t sleep, their little bodies hiccuping with sobs as he hugged them close in his broad, soft, warm arms.
Thus the cradle-song was born 🙂
(I LOVE WRITING DAIN, I LOVE WRITING HIM SO MUCH – HE’S BLUNT AND FUNNY AND NOT VERY POLISHED, AND YET HE IS SO SO SO SOOOO SMART HE IS A FREAKIN JOY TO WRITE AHHHH)
Thank you so so much, Nonnie! I’m thrilled you enjoyed it!
