hey dets, have you thought of the hogwarts house sort for the sansukh/hobbit/lotr characters? lol i know it’s a bit of an unstable risky ground to tread because usually there isn’t ever one sort that universally pleases everyone and hp being what it is sometimes debates get out of hand and ppl get unpleasant, but if you’re willing to share i would love to read your views! i’ve always found your take on these characters the most on point and ic but ofc i understand if you’d rather not say too :D

Ohgosh, I don’t know. I really don’t. Okay, I’ll rattle off a few ideas. But they are by NO means definitive! Just some ideas.

I can see? an argument for Bilbo as a Ravenclaw OR a Slytherin. He values learning and knowledge so very, very highly. He is also willing to do just about anything, even if it is a leeeetle underhanded, to achieve his ends (well hello there Arkenstone.)

I can see Thorin as Slytherin. (loyal, stubborn, AND driven and ambitious? Welp.)

Sam Gamgee, Gryffindor to the bone. The best of the Gryffindor traits are all Sam’s ❤

Pippin would be a Slytherin, I feel! And Merry is a Puff. Totally a Puff.

Frodo is likely a Ravenclaw, in my estimation 🙂

Gimli – whooo, tricky. Puff or Gryffindor. Probably Gryffindor, lbh. 

Elrond is the most Ravenclawy Ravenclaw to ever Ravenclaw. Who else reads every other bloody language, moon runes, knows healing blahdiblahs?

Aragorn… is also very tricky. There’s an argument for EVERY house. Hmmm. Can’t think of which he would be. 

Legolas Hufflepuff, long under tree…

Boromir, you utter utter Gryffindor. 

Dwalin is Gryffindor like WHOA. Kili is also a Gryffindor, methinks. But Fili? would be a Puff (I belong with my brother!). Oin the Ravenclaw. Gloin the Gryffindor. Balin the Slytherin (perfectly happy to lie to Bard – also, ambition drove him to Moria too!). Ori the Ravenclaw. Nori the Slytherin. Dori the Gryffindor. Bofur the Hufflepuff. Bombur the Hufflepuff. Bifur the Gryffindor. Dain the Hufflepuff. Dis the Slytherin. 

(Frerin the Puffiest of Hufflepuffs ahahaha).

It was absolutely a joint effort, that one! I wrote the words, the magnificent notanightlight composed the tune for the verses, and I composed the chorus. 

and then I spent the next few days swearing at it in musescore lolol

As a thank you for that wonderful response to the racism post that is going around, have a headcanon about Belladonna: In her travels she found this little walking stick crafter who made her a beautiful walking staff. It hangs in a place of honor above the fireplace, long before Sting ever joins it.

What do you think the person who posted the prompt in the kinkmeme thinks when they see your fill? Because I think Sansukh goes above and beyond anything they could imagine.

Ahhh, I actually had a very lovely message from that livejournal user. They dropped out of the Hobbit fandom for a little while. When they left, Sansukh was only 20K or so long. 

When they came back (after the third movie was released), Sansukh was around 300K … and counting.

I think they were a bit shocked, tbh. 🙂

For your good Dain rec list, ch. 117 of Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap) by greenkangaroo on AO3 has awesome Dain, and Dain/Nori at the end of the one shot. Although, one of the earlier one shots makes Dain a bad guy for reasons, but it’s listed in the tags what chapter that is so you could avoid it.
