Do you think you’re going to hit 481,103 words? (Honestly, given the list of things you said you still plan to include, I’m not entirely sure how you could avoid it, but I’ve been wrong before, so I wondered what you thought.) If yes, what about 576,459? I found a website that calculates “unique word density” in Tolkien’s works, and I’m strangely tempted to write a quick program to calculate it in Sansûkh, just to see how it compares.

I… honestly have no idea. It’s quite possible? that’s only 120K+ where we are now, I suppose. That’s maybe 8-9 chapters of 14K each.

(this story has warped my concept of everything, I swear – only 120K, pfft.)

I mean, I know what I would like to write, but it will depend on where the story wants to conclude itself. Some stuff will probably end up as one-shots for the Appendices, tbh. It may be that the restoration of Gondor/building the new gates/etc etc etc, turns out to be one of these, for instance.

There is a LOT of narrative to condense and rethink. Although the nature of the books is to drag out the ending, I don’t want to extend Sansukh to the point where the reader begins to lose interest and get swamped. The temptation is totally there though!

But I shouldn’t drag my feet simply because I love Sansukh and will miss it.

IDK, I’ve been asked this before, and I just don’t have a satisfactory answer I’m sorry!

I’d love to know how it compares, though! That would be AMAZING!

I really don’t wanna ask because asking admits it’s happening, but Sansukh is getting close to done (like, pelennor fields and the black gate are the battles left right?), so…. What’s gonna happen when you finish? :’/

NOPE. One more battle! The Scouring of the Shire!

Also, I intend to write many parts of the book that are only glossed over (as I have been doing all along, really) – such as the rebuilding of Gondor (GATES AW YESSS can you imagine how much Narvi is going to have to say about that) and the establishment of Aragorn and Arwen in their roles, the fallout in Erebor and Eryn Lasgalen bc of Gimli & Legolas, the settling of Ithilien and Aglarond, etc.

I’m not going to give it all away, but yeah, LOTS of stuff has yet to happen.

But when it is all over, I am probably going to cry. A lot.
